Patrick Javillier is renowned for his expertise in crafting white wines from the Cote de Beaune that punch well above their weight. Despite small holdings in premier cru and grand cru, Patrick has perfected the art of blending fruit from different climats (or plots) to vinify wines greater than the sum of its parts.
The Oligocene is a Bourgogne Blanc in name only. From plots on the Puligny side of Meursault, most of the fruit actually comes from declassified Les Pellans, making this very much a Meursault-villages. Inviting aromas of ripe stone fruits alongside hints of citrus and toasted nuts. The textured palate offers lemon curd, pear compote and just a touch of flesh. Long and elegant finish, with a lovely minerality. Incredible price-quality performance year after year.
