The Germano family recently inherited a tiny 0.5 hectare plot in the Vigna Rionda cru – considered by many to be one of (if not the) best vineyards in all of Barolo growing region. The 2015 is the first vintage of this vaunted cru released by Sergio Germano. This exudes pretty aromas of red fruit, rose petal, orange peel and just a hint of tobacco. The youthful but refined palate delivers berry compote, liquorice and a touch of chocolate on the close. Fresh acidity accompanies the fine-grained tannins on the silky, delicious finish.
